Riding around in my automobile

I REALLY LIKE Chief Mokwa's "Borrow a Car" program that his daughter just inaugurated. Where do I go to sign up?

Electronic obitsI'M LOOKING AT at the Wednesday South City Journal and have discovered that you have told everybody to go to the internet to find the rest of the obituaries they stop after the letter F. So what happens if you don't have Internet services and you want to keep track of some of the people that have died? I think that's a definite loss in the system.

Problem solvers?

WE DON'T LOOK to arsonists to help put out fires, but we do look to politicians to help solve the financial crisis that they played a major role in creating.

Buy American?

TO THE TRAITOROUS mini driver: Did you and the woman whose husband worked for Chrysler and he lost his job save a lot of money by buying at Wal-Mart? Seems to me you're both traitors.

Fouled out

IT'S ABOUT TIME that Mokwa is being investigated. I've been suspicious for some time, going back to the World Series tickets.

Filling in a reader

I WANT TO thank Jim Merkel for letting me know what happened to the Forest Park Highlands. I went there for the school picnics and I never knew what happened to it. God bless you.

Whatever happened to Bucket Joe?

MY NEPHEW AND and I were going down memory lane and he brought up a question from our past that I didn't now how to answer. I guess maybe in the '80s there used to a gentleman that used to walk around Grand and Gravois in the south city area they called Bucket Joe. He used to carry buckets around everywhere and my nephew wanted to know what happened to him. I have no clue.

Negative campaigns

WHY DO WE have to listen to these presidential candidates slam each other, especially McCain. His mouth is always negative about Obama. Can't they keep focused on national affairs and home affairs and the economy? Why don't they say what they would like to get passed and not get passed?

Ugly plate

THIS NEW LICENSE plate for Missouri is ugly.

Armed subjects

TO THE IDIOT who's against gun control, let me remind him or her that Missourians are allowed to have guns. Crime in Missouri is still high. With guns, we are still subjects.

School preparations

IT'S THAT TIME of year again when parents run all over getting their kids ready for school with lots of school supplies and clothes for the next nine months. Isn't it more important to prepare their minds and bodies? How about trips to the library, some outdoor physical activities, some quiet time, lots of nutritional meals and also getting them to bed earlier.

Hoist one for the A-B workers

TO ALL THE the people who called in about not buying Anheuser-Busch products: I understand your feelings. I'm not happy about it either. I have a neighbor that is in his mid-40s, has three little children and he needs his job. Please don't stop drinking because of the owners; think about your friends that need the money. You don't want to give them food stamps. So let them have their jobs at A-B and think good about the people and bad about the owners.

Bribing the masses

WHAT THE MEDIA doesn't tell us is that the Germans came out for the rock band, bratwurst and free beer, not necessarily to see Obama.

Police perks

IT'S A SAD day in St. Louis for law enforcement with the resignation of Police Chief Mokwa. Why is anyone so surprised that the police get special treatment or perks? This behavior by the police has been going on since I can remember. I was recently at a 7-11. A police officer entered the store and got a half gallon of milk along with two boxes of Hostess doughnuts. I thought that was ironic, doughnuts and the police. The police officer took the items and just walked out without paying. The clerk said they do that all the time. With the price of food going up, maybe the police should used free food as an enlistment tool.

Buy Busch

TO ALL THE people who are upset by the A-B InBev takeover or merger. I also am upset by this. However boycotting is just going to hurt St. Louis because by boycotting the beer, it means everybody who has a job with Anheuser will end up losing their job. So don't boycott Anheuser products, boycott InBev. Don't buy any InBev Belgium stuff. Keep buying Anheuser and keep our people working.

Mowka's severance package

SAY, MAYOR SLAY, read on. What goes around comes around. Mokwa has not been proven guilty or innocent as yet, but you don't vote against a man on his severance pay. I hope the same goes against you when it's your turn. Don't move to south St. Louis

Harvey fan

WHAT'S ALL THIS nonsense about too many Harvey Meyer letters in the paper? I haven't seen one in weeks. I just happen to like Harvey's letters. If they're not in the paper, I feel like I missed something.

Fed up with Ballpark Village

I FOR ONE am getting sick of hearing about Ballpark Village. I think the owners ought to be take the total responsibility for building that and paying for it. Don't come out here to St. Louis County again. We have roads out here that need paving. We have parks that need fixing, so keep your paws back in the city. Don't come out here and expect $30 million like you got for the stadium. I'm fed up listening to the great plans the city has for down there. The city better realize it's not Chicago, it's not New York, it's just the city of St. Louis.

Here's to the Boys in Blue

THIS IS FOR all the St. Louis police officers arresting the bad guys in the area. Keep up the good job, boys.

Cats gone wild

THERE ARE LAWS controlling dogs. They must have a licenses, shots for rabies, be on a leash when out of their yards. I think these laws should be for cats, too They run wild in the neighborhood. I'm tired of cleaning cat doo doo out of my flower bed.

Election advice

LIBERTY LOST IS is rarely regained. You want more poverty and misery? Vote for a socialist liberal.

Raising prices

I'M WONDERING ABOUT this country and our politicians if oil is $140 a barrel how come wheat isn't $140 a bushel?

A warning

BE CAREFUL WHAT you wish for. To all the people who live near Grant's Farm and complain about all the traffic on Grant Road and Gravois. They will sell Grant's Farm for lots of condos, so be careful what you wish for.
